Burkina Faso: Interim President Ibrahim Traoré announces strategic alliance with Russia to fight terrorism

Burkina Faso’s interim president, Ibrahim Traoré, said Russia had become a key strategic ally for the country. However, he denied any allegations that Russian mercenaries were supporting Burkinabe forces in their fight against Islamist armed groups.

Burkina Faso is under international pressure due to rumors that it is run by Russia. The country would have called on the Wagner mercenary group, which unfortunately weakened the country and impoverished the nation. Finally, after several months of objections, President Ibrahim Traoré announced that Russia had become a strategic ally of Burkina.

For some time now, Burkina Faso has been fighting the terrorists who infiltrated the Sahel region after the death of Gaddafi, following the actions of Sarkozy, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Burkinabè are fighting to get rid of these terrorists.

Russia ahead of France

In a rare television interview, Traoré was asked about Burkina Faso’s international allies in the conflict that has claimed thousands of lives and displaced more than 2.5 million people in the Sahel region over the past two decades. The President emphasized that the departure of the French army did not mean that France was no longer an ally, but that Burkina Faso also had new cooperations and other strategic allies such as Russia and Turkey. From now on, Burkina will only cooperate with those who want to help them abolish this war,” he asserted.

Traoré also asserted that Burkina Faso was free to choose its allies, rejecting pressure to choose between East and West. He pointed out that Russia was a major supplier of military equipment to Burkina Faso, but gave no further details. He expressed his satisfaction with cooperation with Russia, stressing that it was frank and honest.

The Burkinabe president also declared that the presence of Wagner’s mercenaries was an invention aimed at harming Burkina Faso and maintaining instability in the country. Burkina Faso suffered two coups d’état the previous year by the army, which promised to regain control of the country, but failed to put an end to terrorist attacks.

Ibrahim Traoré, a true leader

President Traoré expressed Burkina Faso’s desire to take charge of its own fight against terrorism, by seeking new allies and developing new forms of cooperation. Having realized that France was not helping them in the fight against terrorism, the Burkinabè decided to kick her out. He rejected accusations that Russia had come to exploit the country’s mineral resources, saying that every country was looking out for its own interests in Africa.

It’s worth recalling the story of the Senegalese riflemen who fought for France in the Second World War, but were ostracized and discriminated against by France on their return. Many Africans died without benefiting from the promises made, even though they were involved in a battle that didn’t even concern them. What’s more, the French were credited with their victory, and in the end, the survivors were slaughtered.

The young president’s courage, strength and bravery are to be commended in his determination to fight terrorism for the good of Burkina Faso. This young president is a true inspiration for many young people and the world in general.
