Russo-Ukrainian conflict: A worrying escalation and international tensions at stake
Today, we’re dealing with an explosive situation! The Ukrainian military are on Russian territory, in Belgorod. Imagine getting up in the morning and suddenly, as you’re getting into your car, someone jumps out in front of the road and asks you to stop. And you refuse to stop, then he shoots at the car. This is exactly what is happening in Belgorod, Russian territory, under attack from the Ukrainian military.
The Russians acknowledge the presence of the Ukrainian military, who acted as insurgents and launched an attack, but were repulsed. They reportedly shot dead 70 soldiers in Belgorod. It’s incredible and hard to imagine. These Ukrainian soldiers obviously showed up with American trucks, such as the USM One Two-Two for Max Pro Emrap, a U.S. Army truck that was given to Ukraine to fight on its own territory. However, it had been promised that this would not happen on Russian territory, which is a flagrant violation.
This could mean the start of a totally different kind of war. Around 70 Ukrainian servicemen entered Russian territory in Belgorod, where they provoked incidents. Fortunately, there wasn’t much damage, but the Russian military claim to have launched a counter-attack in which they eliminated over 70 Ukrainian soldiers, equipped with American cars or trucks.

The United States under fire for its role in the conflict
This is a very serious situation. The USA sought to distance itself dramatically from this situation on Russian territory, as pro-Ukrainian forces appeared to be using American equipment. Moscow said on Tuesday it had repelled an attack in the Belgorod region after two days of fighting with assailants who had staged a cross-border incursion. Many of the combat details are unclear. Russia claims that the attack was carried out by Ukrainian army saboteurs, while Ukraine claims that it was Russian citizens who rose up independently.

Washington has provided billions of dollars in military aid to Kiev, but has sought to limit its use to the defense of Ukrainian territory rather than attacks on Russian soil, which could be used as a pretext for escalating the conflict.
Clearly, the United States is seeking to distance itself from this situation on Russian territory. They now claim that it wasn’t the Ukrainians but the Russians who rose up against their own government. The trucks used here are USM One Two Two for Max Pro Emrap, American trucks. We wonder how these war machines were obtained. Some time ago, Joe Biden and his administration promised not to deliver weapons to Ukraine, lest the conflict become much more serious. However, it now appears that American tanks, missiles and even pilots have been sent to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
The attitude of the United States in this situation is criticized, by virtue of broken promises not to use these weapons and equipment on Russian territory. Past political declarations have not always materialized. Despite earlier statements that the USA would not transfer weapons such as F-12, F-16 or F-18 fighter jets to Ukraine, a recent government decision has authorized such a transfer. We can also underline the risks of this escalation, with its potential consequences for Europe. Russia has clearly expressed its opposition to the supply of F-12, F-16 or F-18 fighter jets to Ukraine, for which Ukrainian military personnel have begun training in Europe.
In an interview with CNN, we can hear the statements of the US National Security Advisor, who stresses the sending of arms to Ukraine as a means of supporting its defense. The President of NATO is thinking along the same lines.
The importance of careful decision-making
There is a risk of escalation and potential implications for European countries. Political decisions must take account of the consequences for local populations who suffer the direct effects of these conflicts. Before making decisions that could have serious repercussions, the need for caution and understanding of the real situation on the ground must be emphasized.
We conclude by stressing the importance of understanding the complex issues at stake in this conflict. We are reminded that this war is not just an issue between Ukraine and Russia, but also a struggle for influence between the USA and Russia, with repercussions for other European countries. Peace and reconciliation between the peoples concerned are encouraged, while taking into account the potential risks and humanitarian consequences of sending weapons into the region. The question of whether Russia has the right to take action against countries supplying weapons to its enemy is also raised, leaving the reflection to the audience.
