An American politician makes bellicose statements about Mexico

U.S. politician Lyndsey Graham recently made a controversial statement threatening a U.S. military invasion of Mexico. This statement has provoked strong reactions and raises important questions about international geopolitics. But why would a politician make such outrageous statements about a neighbouring country?

In his speech, Graham openly accuses Mexico of protecting drug-producing groups and criminal organizations. He asserts that the United States must intervene to clean up the situation, by sending in its armies. But why is such a statement being made? What are the reasons behind such accusations and threats?

The reasons why Mexico is accused

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accused Mexican President

A quick investigation helps us to understand certain elements. Firstly, Mexico, through its President, refused to join in condemning Russia in the conflict in Ukraine, preferring to remain neutral. Secondly, the Mexican president questioned Western arms financing. He called on countries that claim to want peace to stop indirectly supporting the war in Ukraine, and to sit down around a table to settle the problem amicably. He denounces the action of entities that profit through this war.

Thirdly, Mexico recently nationalized its lithium reserves, an essential mineral for the production of technologies such as electric cars, cell phones and computers etc…. . Similarly, Zimbabwe recently refused to export its Lithium despite the sanctions to which it is exposed. This decision to retain control of this resource for its own development has displeased certain foreign countries.

But do these reasons justify such a bellicose declaration? Is it acceptable for a politician to talk openly about a military invasion of a neighboring country? These questions raise debates about democracy and international relations.

It’s also important to note that Mexico is in the process of joining the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), an alliance that aims to counter Western influence and establish an alternative to the Western financial system, including the Swift system, which enables international currency transactions. Tired of having their transactions blocked by sanctions, they decided to take action. This group is expanding, and many countries, including Mexico, are looking to join. Likewise, Saudi Arabia is keen to join the BRICS and is playing an important role in this dynamic.

Why Saudi Arabia plays an important role in the BRICS dynamic

Petrodollar agreement between Saudi Arabia and the United States

It is essential to understand the history of the agreements between the United States and Saudi Arabia. In the 1970s, an agreement was signed between US President Richard Nixon and Saudi Prince Faisal bin Abdelaziz. This agreement raised the Saudi currency to the highest level and established the petrodollar.

Under this agreement, Saudi Arabia agreed to use the US dollar for oil transactions. This meant that all countries wishing to buy oil first had to convert their currencies to US dollars. This strengthened the dollar’s position as the ultimate currency, and enabled the United States to maintain its financial power over other currencies.

For the USA to continue to maintain its monetary dominance over all other currencies, it is crucial that it maintains good relations with Saudi Arabia. This means that Saudi Arabia must remain in conflict and dispute with Iran, which is why they supported the country in the war. However, China played a mischievous role in bringing Saudi Arabia and Iran together around a discussion table, which helped resolve part of the conflict between the two countries. From then on, Saudi Arabia no longer needed the United States.

Diplomatic relations should not be the prerogative of a single individual.

Politician Lyndsey Graham has a monopoly on decision-making

The future of the world therefore seems to be heading towards a multipolar equilibrium in which the United States will no longer be the sole ideal. Political decisions, alliances and natural resources play a crucial role in the world’s changing dynamics.

However, it is essential to remember that this statement comes from a single politician and does not necessarily represent the official position of the US government. Relations between countries are complex, involving many players and interests. These events must be analyzed with caution and nuance.

Inflammatory statements and tensions between nations underline the importance of open dialogue, constructive diplomacy and the search for peaceful solutions. The world is changing, and it’s crucial that countries seek to understand and work together to tackle common challenges, rather than engaging in pointless confrontation.
