Moreover, he has been accused of corrupting Senegalese youth through his works. However, many voices are speaking out against this wrongful conviction, claiming that it is an attempt to prevent him from standing as a presidential candidate and advancing his fight for the freedom of the Senegalese people.<\/p>\n<p>Ousmane Sonko&#8217;s fight is legitimate and represents the aspirations of Senegal&#8217;s youth, who make up 80% of the population. It&#8217;s a fight against neo-colonialism, aimed at ending military occupation and foreign economic domination. Sonko calls for the departure of colonial troops, an end to foreign policy influence and interference, and Senegal&#8217;s economic sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p>On another note, defenders of just causes are generally shot down, repressed and discredited. Those who oppose Ousmane Sonko seek to discredit him by accusing him of unfounded crimes. However, the Senegalese people remain determined and continue to mobilize to support Sonko and fight for a better future.<\/p>\n<p>Senegal, once hailed for its peace and democracy, is at a decisive turning point. President Macky Sall, the current incumbent, has taken steps to restrict democracy by amending the constitution and seeking to retain power. A completely contradictory act, since the latter had warned his predecessor a few years ago that the Senegalese people would rise up if he ever tried to renew his mandate. Throughout Africa, many countries are waking up and fighting for their independence. The examples of Mali and Burkina Faso show that Africans are ready to rise up against oppression and defend their rights.<\/p>\n<p>Despite international pressure and the sanctions imposed by ECOWAS, Malians demonstrated massively in support of the military transition and in defense of their homeland. They have made a clear choice to unite and work together for a better future. This growing African solidarity is a sign that the continent is waking up and taking its destiny into its own hands, equipped by courageous, strong and intelligent men.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s more, it&#8217;s gratifying to see such young leaders demonstrating self-sacrifice and loyalty, concerned with the interests of the people, seeking to banish corruption, collective lies and personal gain. They stand up with determination, ready to face any obstacle to guarantee a better future. They don&#8217;t wait for things to be given to them, they&#8217;re ready to shed their blood for their freedom. Whether in Senegal or elsewhere in Africa, genuine defenders of their people&#8217;s interests are often unfairly persecuted. But their courage and determination don&#8217;t waver, because they know they&#8217;re on the right side of history. Just as it took a long time to free ourselves from the yoke of colonialism and slavery, it will take the same time to emerge from neo-colonialism and finally embrace total freedom.
